Challenge Climate Change

The challenge of climate change confronts us with the question, under which conditions we want to live on our home planet mother earth. A sustainable development so that also future generations can satisfy their needs seems necessary. We must sustain our living basis, because there is no second earth where we could fly to.

Positive effects of Forests.

Stefan Jung • 4. Juli 2022

Forests have a great meaning for us and our living conditions.

Wood is the oldest raw material and forests serve e.g. as a working place. Forests provide several useful protection effects, like wind protection or water retention. Of great importance are the forests welfare effects: The living space forest is useful to influence positively the factors temperature, air and water and balancing ecological relations. It serves for example as a climate balance, regulates the water household, provides drinking water, purifies and renews water and air, and reduces noise. Forests also have a very positive environment for human recreation and they can provide a rich biodiversity.

Because forests were globally reduced by humanity in large amounts since the last ice age, their global areas should now again be increasing, by planting trees and forests, and/or via natural succession and selection. So the - in short - before mentioned positive effects of forest could be enlarged and enhanced, e.g. also to store lots of Gigatons of Carbon Dioxide and to improve local and regional water cycle and rainfall patterns.
